Karina Nishi Marcus’ paintings speak from a visual vocabulary formed before the advent of words. In an exploration between primordial visual images and the mystery that surrounds perceived reality, these paintings follow a continuum from veils of color to densely textured surfaces of saturated color. Forms are intuited and emerge from the two-dimensional surface and dissolve into the depths. Painting is the process, an odyssey and a quest for the artist and the viewer.
